Garden waste collections back next week

Date published: 21 February 2011

Garden waste collections will resume across the Rochdale borough from Tuesday 1 March following a winter suspension of the service to help the Council save money.

Residents will be able to find their brown bin collection dates on their bin collection calendars. If you don’t have your bin collection calendar to hand or just need some help call the council on 0845 226 1800 to find out when your garden waste bin will next be collected.

Councillor Terry Linden, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “It’s not long to wait now until people with brown bins can put them out again for collection. We do appreciate the suspension of the service has been inconvenient but all shall be back to normal from Tuesday 1 March.”

If you have any garden waste you want to dispose of before garden waste bin collections start again from 1 March you can go to one of the three Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in the borough which are open 7 days a week from 8am to 6pm. They are located at:

  • Chichester Street, Rochdale OL16 2AU. Telephone 01706 643871
  • Springvale, Middleton M24 2HQ. Telephone 0161 653 5271
  • Peel Lane, Heywood OL10 4PR. Telephone 01706 364956
