Man charged following attempted robbery

A man from Rochdale has been charged following an attempted robbery at a shop in Oldham.

Sadaquit Ali, 22, of Ludgate Road, Kirkholt, appeared at Oldham Magistrates' Court on Monday 7 February 2011 charged with attempted robbery and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon. He has been remanded in custody to appear at court on 19 April 2011.

Just after 10.30pm on Saturday 5 February 2011, police were called to reports that four men in balaclavas had tried to rob a Domino's shop on Huddersfield Road.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to call officers at Oldham on 0161 856 8955 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
