PCT staff go for gold

Date published: 04 February 2008

Staff at Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust (HMRPCT) have been recognised for their hard work and dedication at the PCT’s annual Going for Gold Awards ceremony.

Now in its third year, the awards recognise individuals who have provided an outstanding service to their patients, as well as those long service employees who have worked for the NHS for 20, 25 and 30 years.

This year, the outstanding achievement awards were split in to two categories, clinical and non-clinical, to represent the various work undertaken throughout the PCT.  Each category received a raft of nominations, but on the evening, there was one winner and runner up.

The winner of the clinical award was Rosey Bennett, specialist support practitioner in the Community and Learning Disabilities Team.  Ms Bennett, from Norden, has worked for the NHS since 1986.  Over that time she has brought innovation to the service, working with families and children with learning difficulties all over the Borough.

The non-clinical award winner was Callaghan House-based Michelle Bamford, technical instructor in the Children’s Physiotherapy Department.  Ms Bamford, from Heywood, joined the team 2.5 years ago and has developed a robust service to improve the working practices of the whole Physiotherapy team.

“The enthusiasm and professionalism of staff members within our PCT has continued year on year, ensuring that there have been many improvements in both the quality of patient care and service delivery over the last 12 months,” said HMRPCT Chief Executive, Trevor Purt.

“The PCT workforce is one of our largest assets and without the considerable contribution and effort from every single person, the delivery of effective wellbeing and healthcare services would not be possible.”

As well as recognising outstanding achievers, the evening paid tribute to the PCT’s loyal and long serving staff members.

Mr Purt added: “Incredibly, our long service employees total 575 years working for the NHS.  Their breadth and depth of expertise is extremely valuable and it is a massive achievement for each individual.”
