Deeplish Primary School.
Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s class have been very busy this week.
On Tuesday, they visited Kingsway Park High School as part of their theme “The Animal Kingdom,” they composed their own music to represent the different characters in Peter and the Wolf. They worked really hard. The class also visited Touchstones on Thursday, completed a maths trail around the museum and then played mathematical games.
Years 3 and 4 also welcome two new animals to the school on Wednesday. The children and staff have bought two, yet un-named guinea pigs. The children are having a competition to name them. We would like to say thank you to the staff from ‘Pets At Home’ in Royton for their help and generosity with the purchase of these two little additions to the school.
Susan Aggarwahl, an artist, came in to school to speak to the children, parents and staff about an exciting art project for the new school. The children had some great ideas and we are all looking forward to seeing the finished articles.
Our reception children had a lovely day out when they visited Legoland in the Trafford Centre. The children made some fabulous models out of the lego.
Congratulations to our school football team who played in a tournament with 8 other schools at the Soccer factory in Castleton. Whilst they didn’t win, the enthusiasm and sportsmanship was second to none. Well done boys and good luck in future matches. Thanks to Mr Lyons for organising it and Miss Butterworth for helping with the transport.
Our year 1 children were also out this week when they visited Touchstones Museum, the theme being “Material World” Well done for walking their and back in the not so nice weather.
Classes have started visiting the building site of the new school – diggers, tractors and hard hats were in evidence with the foundations being laid. The children were fascinated to see the big holes.
Attendance Champions this week were Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Vickers’ classes. Early Birds were Mrs Taylor’s, and Mrs Roberts’ classes. Prizes for 100% attendance went to Hussnen and Emaan. Congratulations.
