Church donates hundreds of pounds to homeless project

St Clement’s Church in Spotland has presented a cheque for £625 to the “Nightstop Project.”

The project supports homeless 16-17 year-olds in Rochdale and is run by the Sanctuary Trust.

Members of the Church congregation presented the cheque during the morning service held on Sunday (30 January 2011).

Every year the Church chooses four charities to support, the charities are chosen by the congregation. But, because last year was the Church’s 175th anniversary they decided to just support one local charity for the whole year – the Nightstop Project being the chosen charity.

The money was raised from a donations box for loose change, a coffee morning, a bring and buy sale, a harvest lunch and a special collection in December in place of a Toy Service.

All gifts received at the Church’s harvest service also were donated to the project.
