Date published: 25 January 2011

A Rochdale worker appeared on the popular ITV show ‘Take Me Out’ on Saturday (22 January) – and bagged himself a date.

Ian Smith works in Rochdale as a project coordinator for Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale; he applied to be considered for any game show and was given an audition for ‘Take Me Out’.

“I didn’t know what ‘Take Me Out’ was at first, as I had never watched the first series,” said Mr Smith. “When I got there the audition was interesting, and I had to talk at length about myself.”

Mr Smith continued: “I got a call back from the company and was told I had been accepted for the show, and up until then it was a bit of a whirlwind.

“It was quite surreal, and I can’t go out without people recognising me. Although it isn’t for my music, I’m still flattered that these people know who I am.”

Mr Smith, from Bury, who is part of boy band ‘3Flow’ sang to the contestants and his voice proved to be a huge hit - winning the hearts of contestants JoJo and Becky.

In the end he chose blonde-bombshell Becky, and is happy with his date, despite people telling him he made the wrong choice.

Mr Smith kept the details of his date close to his chest but to find out how it went watch ‘Take Me Out’ this Saturday (29 January 2011).
