Road closed following unknown liquid find
Date published: 20 January 2011
Molesworth Street in Rochdale is closed in both directions between the B6266 Entwisle Road junction and the Water Street junction after an unknown liquid was found.
Fire crews were called to the scene just after 6.00pm tonight (Thursday 20 January 2011) following reports that a plastic drum containing an unknown liquid was found in the road.
On arrival the crews found a plastic container containing around 1000 litres of an unknown chemical.
As a precautionary measure fire-fighters wore protective suites to assess the container to see if it was damaged or leaking.
The container wasn’t leaking and wasn’t considered hazardous by the fire service.
Rochdale Online understands that the matter has been handed over to Rochdale Council.
