Police looking for missing man search derelict building

A derelict building in Middleton was searched today (Tuesday 11 January 2011) by police looking for Leslie Sweeney, 40, who has been missing since June 2010.

The police were assisted by special search and rescue teams and the fire service because of concerns that the building was unsafe.

The search of Providence United Reformed Church on Market Place took place this afternoon but Mr Sweeney was not found in the building.

Mr Sweeney, was last seen in the Langley area of Middleton at about 10pm on 11 June 2010. Mr Sweeney had been staying with a friend but was known to sleep rough. He was last seen by his partner.

Mr Sweeney is described as white, of a slim build, about 5ft 8in tall and with short brown greying hair and green eyes. He has several tattoos on his arms of the words Pink Floyd, Karl and Leah.

On the day he disappeared, he was wearing a black North Face jacket, blue jeans and black Rockport boots.
