New inspector joins Pennines

Date published: 30 July 2010

The Pennine Neighbourhood Policing Team has appointed a new top cop to help fight crime, tackle anti-social behaviour and make neighbourhoods safer and more pleasant for people to live, work and grow up in.

Inspector Jamie Collins takes over the reins of Inspector Jem Davies, who is taking maternity leave.

Inspector Collins, said: “The role of Neighbourhood Inspector is a great new challenge for me, as it puts officers at the heart of the community where they can develop relationships with local people, find out their concerns and make a real difference to their quality of life.

“Over the coming months I will be listening to the concerns of the communities and will be working with our partners to ensure we can act on the issues that are important to each neighbourhood. I will also continue to work with the local community and partners, such as the council, housing associations, community leaders and associations in the area, to target offenders who are blighting our area.”

“I am also keen to make a big impact on those taking part in anti-social behaviour, burglary, vehicle crime and off-road bike nuisance and I can assure local people that they can help us do that in complete confidence. It will allow me to build on the area’s success and develop it for the future.”

Bowing out of the role, Inspector Davies said that she is looking forward to her return and believes that Inspector Collins will continue on with the successful crime reductions.

She said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 18 months working here on the Pennines. We have a close community and by working together the police, partners and residents have made this a safer place to live. I am delighted that Inspector Collins is taking over and I have every confidence that he will build on this work. ”

Inspector Collins joins the team to cover Littleborough Lakeside, Wardle and West Littleborough, Milnrow and Newhey and Smallbridge and Firgrove.

He has previous neighbourhood policing experience as a Sergeant for Rochdale North. He has also worked on response and on several projects for the Division.
