Detectives name a man in connection with Heywood murder

Date published: 05 June 2006

Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man they want to speak to in connection with a fatal stabbing in Heywood in the early hours of Saturday 3 June 2006.

Police would like to speak to 23-year-old Mark Robertson from the Boarshaw area of Middleton as it is believed he may hold vital information about the murder of Lee Pickles.

Members of the public should not approach Mark Robertson if they see him, but should contact Rochdale CID on 0161 856 8525 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Detectives would also appeal to Mark Robertson himself to attend a police station at the earliest opportunity.

At approximately 1am on Saturday 3 June 2006 police were called to Walton Close where Lee Pickles (born 05/02/69) of High Street in Heywood had been stabbed. He was taken to Fairfield Hospital suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Police launched a murder enquiry after Lee died in hospital on the night of Saturday 3 June 2006.
