Carers Resource marks National Carers Week

Rochdale borough's Carers Resource is marking National Carers' Week (12-18 June 2006) by inviting carers and their families to join in, and celebrate the work of carers.
The theme this year is, 'In Sickness and in Health'.
On Monday 12 June, staff and volunteers from the Carers Resource will be at Middleton Leisure Centre for the whole afternoon, promoting fitness and fun at the same time with badminton, squash and table tennis from 1pm - 4pm and swimming 7am - 2pm and 4pm - 8pm, free of charge.
At The Carers Resource, Water Street in Rochdale in the afternoon there will be a taster session in using computers including email, and internet.
On Tuesday 13 June, at Heywood Community and Training Suite, Heywood Market, the Carers Resource are launching their new outreach session called 'Chatterbox', which will subsequently be held weekly at the same location from 10.00 am -12.00 noon. Chatterbox is a new idea, where carers can call, enjoy a coffee and a cake and chat with other carers, staff or volunteers, about various issues or problems they face.
Outside a carer and her husband will entertain the Heywood crowds, singing their own renditions of a variety of classics. Inside the training suite carers can seek advice and information and/or participate in the holistic therapies available, whilst enjoying refreshments.
During the morning, there will also be will be a taster session on chair yoga to stretch away your aches and pains at the Carers Resource in Rochdale, and in the afternoon a sign language taster session.
At lunchtime on Wednesday 14 June, the Carers Resource on Water Street in Rochdale welcomes the Mayor to a formal opening of the celebrations. There will be a day full of activities, including free health checks for all carers who can also enjoy therapies, pampering sessions and henna treatments and a healthy lunch.
Thursday 15 June, the Carers Resource has taster sessions in personal development, flower arranging during the morning and craft and beginner's class for computers, email and internet during the afternoon.
Friday 16 June, there is a fun filled Creative Expressions group in the morning, performing drama and poetry. In the afternoon there will be a Life Coaching demonstration to help you make positive changes in your life.
To round off the week, Friday evening ends on a musical note, (6.30pm - 9.30pm) with lots of singing and dancing, whilst enjoying a light supper.
