Just before 2.15am on Monday 26 June 2006, a 24-year-old man was seriously injured after he was in collision with a car on Market Street in Heywood.
Police are appealing for witnesses after it was reported that the car failed to stop at the scene of the incident.
The injured man was taken to Fairfield Hospital to be treated for head and upper body injuries and is now in a critical but stable condition.
It is believed that the man was in collision with a silver Mercedes A Class as he was crossing the road with his friend. The car reportedly drove away in the direction of Wood Street. A car of a similar description was later found abandoned and burnt out by police nearby.
