Feel Good Festival 2010 programme unveiled

With less than two months to go, the official programme for the Rochdale Feel Good Festival was launched this week.

Now in its third year, 2010 sees the biggest and most exciting line up to date, comprising over 30 shows. There’ll also be more than 10 warm up events during the run up to the festival, which includes a wide range of music, cooking, theatre, dance, children’s shows, food and exhibitions.

Launching the programme alongside festival organisers and representatives from some of the venues taking part, Councillor Keith Swift, Cabinet Member for Skills and Economic Recovery said: “I am delighted to unveil the Feel Good Festival Programme, which for the third year in a row has grown in size and quality.

"This summer Rochdale will be full of some of the most talented artists in the business. It is a formidable line up of free entertainment that I am sure will excite and delight our residents, as well as attracting many people from around the region. I look forward to welcoming all the performers and audiences to Rochdale, for what is set to be our best ever festival.”

Event Manager Debbie O’Brien, from Rochdale Town Centre Management added: “The Rochdale Feel Good Festival has grown to become one of the biggest events in the borough, and I would like to thank the council and our sponsors for their support.” 

Seven indoor venues will be staging live music during the festival. On the Saturday afternoon, the main stage by the town hall starts at 3pm, with performances by The Lightning Seeds, The Travelling Band, Ellen and the Escapades, Kirsty Almedia, The Herbaliser, plus special guests.

Cooking superstar Gino D’Acampo will appear in the festivals celebrity food kitchen, alongside Aazam Ahmad and another star chef, who’ll all be demonstrating their cooking skills and sharing favourite recipes.

As well as the venues and main stage, street theatre is going to be taking over the town, with lots of impromptu live performances from a range of characters, and breathtaking shows from Skylight Circus Arts.

Several warm up events will be held prior to the main festival, including a ‘Feel Good – Battle of the Bands’ competition at Coast in Rochdale on Saturday 10 July. On Friday 9 July top comedian John Bishop performs his new show live at the Flying Horse Hotel. Then star of stage and screen Catherine Tyldesley prepares for her festival debut alongside soul singer Larry Woods at a special Motown Night at Heywood Civic Centre on Saturday 17 July.

The festival is sponsored by ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ and ‘Do you feel good?’
