Jobs and Skills Fair offers plenty of opportunities

Date published: 13 September 2006

Anyone looking for a job or wanting training information have the opportunity when many of the Borough’s major employers take part in the annual Jobs and Skills Fair next month.

As well as the many jobs on offer, there is plenty of information on the skills training available across the Borough. There is a particular focus on the skills required to help fill vacancies created at the huge Kingsway Industrial Park in Rochdale.

Organised by the Employment Links Partnership and the Kingsway Recruitment Team, the Jobs and Skills Fair will provide space for more than 20 local and national employers, all with jobs available for local people.

Advisers from Employment Links, Jobcentre Plus and the Kingsway Recruitment Team will be on hand to assist with employment and training issues to all Borough residents looking for work.

In-depth advice and guidance is also available for people seeking to take up employment opportunities but who feel they are prevented from doing so because of a health condition or disability.

Employment Links Partnership and other skills training providers will be able to provide advice on all aspects of job search, including the completion of CVs and application forms.

All the employers who have committed to attend this years’ event are currently recruiting locally and are actively seeking suitable applicants for the vacancies.

Those attending include: Agilysis, Argos, ASDA, Blue Arrow, B amp; Q, Boots the Chemist, Express Gifts (Middleton), Impact Partnership, LBM, My Travel, Next Distribution (Heywood), PC World, Red Retail Recruitment, Rochdale Council, Wilkinson, Zen Internet, Greater Manchester Police and the Armed Forces.

The Rochdale Jobs and Skills Fair takes place on Tuesday 3 October at Rochdale Town Hall, the Esplanade, from 10am-3pm. It will be officially opened by the Borough Mayor, Councillor Jean Hornby, at 10:15am.
