Rochdale’s Got Talent
Forget waiting for Saturday night to watch Britain’s Got Talent or the end of the summer for the X- Factor to start – watch Rochdale’s Got Talent instead!
Acts ranging from rock music to rap and musical theatre to dancing have entered the competition and the top twenty acts will take to the stage for the next step in the competition.
Contestant Lucy Coatman, is a musical theatre performer who wants to perform in the West End one day, she said: “I saw the competition and thought it would be something really fun to enter. I don’t feel too nervous yet and I am really excited. I enjoy performing in front of people and I am really looking forward to the next stage.”
Rapper James Rose performs UK hip-hop music under the stage name 'JDOTR', he said: "I entered the competition to show the people of Rochdale that Rochdale really does have talent.
"I am quite nervous but I think it will be a great experience and all my friends and family are coming to watch."
To see the entrants in action don’t miss the live showcase on Saturday 8 May and Sunday 9 May at the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre.
After that, just like on the TV it is up to you, the public, to decide. Voting to see who progresses to the grand final at the Broadfield Park Hotel will take place online via the Rochdale Online website from Sunday 9 May until Friday 14 May.
So if you want to have your say on who you think is Rochdale’s most talented the key is to get online and vote for them.
The top ten in the public vote will then progress to the final to perform in front of a live audience and a panel of judges including: the son of comedian Jimmy Cricket, Dale Mulgrew, Local Actor Colin Meredith who has appeared on screen in Coronation Street and Emmerdale, Lorenzo O’Reilly Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre Manager and Richard Catlow of the Rochdale and Heywood Independent.
The winner of the competition will walk away with £500 prize money from sponsors Rochdale Borough Council.
