Deeplish Primary School

Date published: 01 April 2010

A short, but nevertheless, busy week for all at school. School Council members were kept very busy during morning break times selling tickets for the Grand Easter Egg Raffle. The school hall was a very busy place! Yet again, Deeplish school staff stepped up to the mark with their generous donations of Easter Eggs for the raffle. Thank you, this could not have taken place without your help.

We are now beginning to receive completed Parentmail forms from families, thank you for that. We need everyone’s forms back as soon as possible please so that this excellent scheme can be put in to place. Also any families who are in receipt of free school meals for their children have the opportunity to gain access to a free computer and internet for 1 year. If you haven’t already applied, please do as soon as you can, THIS IS FREE! If you need any help with your application please come into school to talk with Mrs. Davis.
Our budding actors and actresses put on a wonderful performance of “Sleeping Beauty” on Wednesday for the whole school and parents. Thank you to our after school drama club led by Ms. Wilde for all your hard work.

We, unfortunately, had to say goodbye to two members of staff this week. Ms Ahmed, our Parent Empowerment worker and Mrs Dean, kitchen assistant. Both were presented with cards and flowers and we wish you luck in whatever you do next.

Congratulations to Miss Kelly for completing a first aid course and now joining the team in school.

Parents of children in Year 6 were invited to a meeting in school to learn about what would be happening during SATs week in May. The meeting was very well attended.

The Spring term was brought to a lovely end on with our Awards Assembly. Children with 100% attendance for the whole term were given a certificate and this term we seemed to have had more than ever achieving this, well done all of you! The classes with the best attendance during the Spring term were Mrs Taylor’s and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes. The anticipation of maybe going home with an Easter Egg from the raffle made everyone sit up at the end of the assembly. Well done to those who won an egg. Don’t be too disappointed if you didn’t win, there’s always next year. We managed to raise a fantastic £150 to be put into school funds. Well done!
