Healey Primary School

Date published: 06 April 2010

School is closed now until Monday 19 April 2010.

Dinner money for the next half-term is £49.30. We now have more than three-quarters of the children taking a school meal and we appreciate that most parents now realise that advance payment is easier than trying to remember Monday mornings! Parents are asked to ensure that meals are paid for in advance and that changes from school meals to packed lunches are NOTIFIED TO THE OFFICE IN ADVANCE. We do not want to charge for meals prepared for children who have decided to change over to sandwiches. However we may have to do this.

Thankfully all the weather disruption is now over and hopefully the Spring and Summer days will encourage more children to either walk or cycle to school. Children who do cycle just need to remember a good cycle lock and a helmet.

The Spring Term Assessment Sheets were issued before the holidays. The grades will confirm assessments from the last parents evening. I am delighted that overall school attendance is now climbing back towards 97% which clearly puts us in the top attendance tables nationally. Next term is a very important term for all pupils. In May all children, except for Reception, will be taking part in formal tests, therefore everyday is important.

The Rochdale Music Festival was very successful this year and thank you to all parents who supported in one way or another. We will be repeating some of the performances at the May Tea next term.

Rotary Boxes
Due to a last minute surge – we will extend ordering the Rotary Boxes until 23 April 2010. We would like to beat our target of 150 and have already got 80 on order. The boxes can be filled with no end of things and suggestions are on the website. The boxes are £1 to pay for transportation only.

Robinwood
The three day residential is immediately the week we come back. Children should have all the information needed.

Uniform
At the end of last term we collected about 30 school sweatshirts – mainly from Years 3 & 4 cloakroom. Please can you make sure that sweatshirts and fleeces have a name or initials on the label.
Reminder also that trainers are not allowed as school uniform. Children may change into trainers for outside wear, but need to change back for in school. We try very hard to prevent the children from going onto the muddy grassed areas around the playground, but some children are quite heedless, particularly in the long lunchtime play. WE DO NOT HAVE A LOST PROPERTY BOX. All uniform left at the end of each term is recycled and sent to charity shops. Named items are always returned to the children.

Home/School Communication
After Easter we are changing text alert providers. You do not need to do anything and hopefully the transfer will take place smoothly.

Things to look out for after the holiday
Survival Skills for Families, After School “Active Kids” Sessions for the younger children, May Tea, SATs Tests, Secondary Schools Induction Days, Book Fair.
