Woman found guilty of littering offences
Date published: 02 April 2010
A woman has been ordered to pay a total of £265 after being been guilty of littering offences.
Bags of waste to the rear of Oldham Road were found and contained evidence which linked the offence to Elizabeth Marsh of Oldham Road, Rochdale.
Ms Marsh did not attend the hearing at Rochdale Magistrates Court on 31 March 2010, but was found guilty of littering contrary to section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
The Magistrates convicted Ms Marsh and ordered her to pay a fine of £175, court costs of £75 and victim surcharge of £15 within 14 days of issue.
Had the matter been settled by way of paying a Fixed Penalty Notice, the cost could have been as low as £50.
