Date published: 31 March 2010

Robbers burst into a Rochdale home and threatened a man and his wife before stealing a car.

At 3am on Tuesday 30 March 2010, two men smashed the glass panel at the front door of a house on Wicken Bank, Heywood, and forced their way in.

The offenders threatened a 53-year-old man and his wife, demanding they hand over car keys.

They escaped in a grey Audi A6, registration MF59 OAV, towards Middleton Road.

The couple were uninjured but left shaken.

Police are hunting two men, described as white, 30-years-old, between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in tall of medium to big build. They were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.

Detective Constable Nick Price, of Rochdale CID, said: "While it was very early in the morning, I am hopeful someone may have witnessed the incident or noticed something suspicious around the time of the robbery ⿿ if so please get in touch.

"I would also ask anyone who knows where the car might be, or has been approached with a view to buying it, to call police."

Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 1977, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
