Pupils from St Thomas C of E School have joined the growing number of Rochdale children striding out together in aid of children’s charity, MedEquip4Kids.
The school raised £660 by taking part in Walk4Kids, a sponsored walk from the school in Huddersfield Road, Newhey.
MedEquip4Kids raises money to provide medical equipment for children’s wards and neo-natal units at hospitals across the region ensuring children and babies receive the best possible care when sick or injured.
As part of the charity’s schools programme, Get Active with Pip, MedEquip4Kids has launched Walk4Kids encouraging primary schools to organise a sponsored walk of their choice.
MedEquip4Kids’ schools presenter, Debbie Barker, visited St Thomas C of E to speak to the children during assembly about the work of the charity and the reasons why it was important to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
She then returned to the school with MedEquip4Kids mascot, Pip, for the Walk4Kids event with the children following a track around the hills close to the school grounds.
Mrs Barker said: “The children at St Thomas raised a fantastic amount of money so we can’t thank them enough for their support. This donation will allow us to continue our work providing essential medical equipment.”
