Awards night celebrates work of local foster carers

The outstanding achievements and dedication of local foster carers was recognised this week, at a special awards ceremony to thank all carers for their hard work.
Foster carers and their families joined in the at the Lancashire Health and Racquet Club, Middleton.
Awards were given to foster carers who have given between 5 - 30+ years of service.
The Alan Russell Award, for outstanding contribution to fostering in the borough, was awarded to John and Elsie Hollinworth. The couple have been looking after children for more than 30 years and are said to have gone above and beyond their ordinary fostering duties.
Cheryl Eastwood, Rochdale Borough Council’s new Executive Director for Children’s Services, said: "Our foster carers do a fantastic job all year round and deserve recognition and reward for all their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication.
“This event was a wonderful opportunity to personally thank some of our carers for the invaluable life-changing work that they do. They look after children and young people at a time when they need it most and provide stability, care and support.”
