St John’s School centenary celebrations
On Friday 23 April, which also happens to be St George’s day, it will be exactly 100 years since the school was officially opened. There was an older building prior to that but the current red brick building which we are still housed in was opened 100 years ago. This is, of course, a cause for celebration and we intend to keep the celebrations going right through the Summer term.
We will begin with a special Mass in the school hall on the morning of Friday 23 April at 9.15am to which everyone is very welcome.
I would like anyone with any specific memories of being at St Johns either as a pupil or a teacher to contact the school. Maybe you could talk with a group of children or simply submit your memories in writing if you would prefer but all ideas are welcome. Telephone 01706 647195, call in, write or email head@stjohnsrc.rochdale.sch.uk with your memories and stories which we would be allowed to relate!
Mrs Masood leaving assembly
Mrs Gulrukh Masood has been our Family Learning worker since 2002. Due to changes in the Family Learning service Mrs Masood will now after Easter be based at Crossfield Mill and work in a variety of schools and settings. Gulrukh has supported a great number of parents in achieving qualifications in Literacy, Numeracy, English as a second language, First aid and many more things. You are welcome to a special assembly on Tuesday morning next week at which a presentation will be made to her from the parents and children. Our very best wishes to Gulrukh for her future success and happiness with thanks for all that she has done and achieved.
