“Jungle Bungle!” Sounds interesting, but what was it all about? This was the title of a performance given to Years 1 to 6 by a West End actors. The performance focussed on worries children may have and encouraged them to share their worries and not carry them around.

A dragon, a witch, a dog, a cat, a frog and the rest of Mrs Clayton and Mr Dysch’s Year 3 class performed “Room On The Broom” by at the Rochdale Festival of Performing Arts at Whitworth Civic Centre on Tuesday afternoon. The adjudicator, Colin Meredith, commended their presentation and praised their clear speaking, brilliant costumes and their obvious enjoyment.

Our Year 5 children are now nearing the end of their time at “Playing For Success” at Rochdale Football Club. They have learned a wide range of IT skills including musical composition and games designing!

“The Romans” were the subject of trips to the Touchstones Museum by two of our Year 3/4 classes this week. Mrs Isherwood’s and Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s classes learned all about life in Roman times. The behaviour as usual was excellent!

The School Council had a short meeting this week as some council members were out on a trip. A letter will go out to parents about healthy packed lunches and interviews for “Investors in Pupils” will re-commence this week.

Wednesday saw the start of the annual Deeplish School’s Governors’ week. Governors are invited in to see what goes on in school that they wouldn’t normally be able to see. They got the opportunity to take part in lessons and to talk to the children and staff. Thank you to all the governors who have been in to school, your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you, also, to the members of staff who welcomed the governors in to their classes.

During the achievement assembly on Friday, the Vice Chairperson of the Governing Body, Miss Buckley, was pleased to announce that school had raised over £480 for the Barnado’s Charity. To raise this magnificent amount children had to hard boil an egg, decorate it and look after it for a week keeping a diary of where it went. Thank you children and your families for your generosity.

Attendance Awards this week went to Mrs Taylor’s and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes. Early Birds were Miss Butterworth’s, Mrs Clayton/Mr Dysch’s ands Mrs Roberts’ classes. Congratulations to Zohaib and Zeshan for winning the 100% attendance draw.
