Cannabis worth thousands of pounds discovered
Date published: 23 March 2010
Police discovered 30 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £5,000 on Tweedale Street, Freehold.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and has been bailed until 20 May 2010 pending further inquiries.
Police Constable Mark Elliot, of Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing team, said: “To have disrupted this operation and stopped drugs from hitting the streets of our communities is a fantastic achievement.
”This operation reinforces the clear message that we will act decisively to deal with the manufacture of illegal drugs.
”A major element of this success has been the level of support and information we have received from local people about crime in their neighbourhoods and we want to thank them for that and urge them to continue to provide us with information.
”Tell-tale signs of drug cultivation can often include lots of different people coming and going at unusual times and all of the windows in a property being covered day and night.”
Anyone with information about drug dealing in their area should call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
