Call goes out for bright sparks

Date published: 23 March 2010

Schools and colleges in the borough have been asked to nominate their most outstanding students for the Aimhigher Greater Manchester Awards 2010.

Aimhigher works with young people from across the borough to give them the confidence to take what they love doing and build it into a career through Higher Education. It arranges visits to universities, Summer Schools and brings amazing people at the top of their game into schools and colleges.

Schools and colleges can nominate students from Years 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 who have made the most of the opportunities they have had from Aimhigher, are role models for other young people, and are well on their way to university.

Other awards for 2010 include:

  • Aimhigher Apprentice Learner
  • Aimhigher Associates Scheme Learner
  • Aimhigher Special Achievers’ Award

Jo Wiggans, Director Aimhigher Greater Manchester, says she is really looking forward to the awards. Jo said: “The achievements of Aimhigher learners never fail to amaze me and their stories are a real inspiration to us all. I love the Aimhigher Greater Manchester Awards event; it is such a great opportunity to celebrate with our award winners and their friends and families.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday 23 April 2010 and the winners will be announced at the Aimhigher Greater Manchester awards evening on Wednesday 30 June 2010 at the University of Salford’s Maxwell Hall.
