Firefighters put a shine back onto cars
Date published: 20 March 2010
The Firefighters Charity National Car Wash 2010 took place today (Saturday 20 March).
Firefighters at Rochdale Fire Station spent five hours cleaning cars for people in the borough with the help of their children.
Organiser, Firefighter Steve Webb said: “Today has been a real success and has enabled us to get the message of fire safety out to the local community whilst cleaning their cars.”
Whilst members of the public had their cars clean they were given checklists to complete regarding fire safety at their home and were given an opportunity to have a chat with their firefighters about keeping their homes safe from fire.
Stations across the UK took part to raise much needed funds for the Firefighters Charity. In return for cleaning cars, the firefighters asked for a small donation to go towards the charity.
Firefighter Mark Doggett said Steve said: “Even in adverse weather conditions people have still supported the day and have given generously to the fire fighters charity.”
