Redwood School

Date published: 11 March 2010

This half term has seen a number of exciting projects which our young people have been involved with. Firstly a group of pupils from across all three key stages spent a week in the Lake District taking part in a variety of activities at the Calvert Trust centre. The group also had great weather for the week.

Key 103 – `Redhill Radio`A group of students spent two days at the Key 103 studio in Manchester planning for the launch of `Redhill Radio` which will start in the near future. This included `jingle writing` and dedications working in teams. This project is an example of the great links we have with Oulder Hill – hence the title `Redhill`!

Year 9 Transition reviews have taken place – thanks to parents / carers for your support and input into these important meetings which will help our young people to start planning for the next stage in their school life.

6th form Person Centered Reviews - The feedback on the review process has been very positive by all concerned. These are vital as our young people plan their life post Redwood 6th form.

Aiming High – we have recently submitted a bid to ` Aiming High` with the intention of securing funding to plan for short break provision services in September in the form of evening Youth Clubs and a Saturday activity based at Redwood. Should the bid be successful, we shall consult with parents / carers and our young people in the summer term.

Pancake Race – a big thank you to all of KS3 for their support. We had lots of fun (although the staff tactics and techniques were questionable!) We have raised £304.36 to buy resources for the department A special mention to Dexter, Patrick, Luke and Tom P for raising an outstanding amount of money.

The Manchester Coalition for disabled people visited 6th Form to perform and interact with our drama groups. The experience was enjoyed by everyone who took part.

Attendance last week was 92.7% Thanks to all and lets keep it up.
