Many thanks to all the families, parents and friends of school who attended our recent ‘Television Drama and Situation Comedy’ Evenings which formed part of our GCSE Drama work. There were lots of people in attendance over the two evenings and the range and quality of work was very impressive. Well done to all the pupils involved in the event.

We look forward to welocomg Peshkar Theatre Company into school this week as they work with our BTEC Performing Arts Drama groups. The Theatre Company will lead two hour workshops for several classes looking at devising drama on Monday.

The new Arts College newsletter has been issued to all pupils this week and colour copies are available online at our school website. The edition reminds parents and families of the exhibition currently running at The Central Library, Rochdale based on our recent borough-wide ‘Instrumentality’ project.

Drama Revsion classes take place every Tuesday after school in F5. It is important that all Year 11 GCSE Drama students attend regularly as we prepare for the written examination in summer.

Letters for a combined Drama and Science theatre visit to see ‘Horrible Science’ at the Palace Theatre are available from Ms. Kowalski or Mr. DeCourcey. Places are limited and issued on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

BTEC Performing Arts Drama students should now be busy completing their Performing Arts Business Portfolios at home. If you need any help with this process, please come and see Ms. Gott or Mr. DeCourcey at lunchtimes or after school.

National Science week runs from 15 March to 19 March. The Science Faculty will be running a series of fun activities at lunchtimes. Year 7 will visit the Hall to see ‘Kitchen Sink Science’ on Friday 19 March. This is an exciting demonstration of experiments that could be carried out at home. Year 8 will visit the Hall on 23 March and 24 March to see a visiting planetarium.

The Year 11 BTEC Diploma group are organizing ‘Last Chance-Last Dance’ as part of their final unit for assessment. The dance performances will be on the following days: Matinee Wednesday 21 April (Primary Schools only). The evening performance is on Wednesday 21 April and Thursday 22 April (tickets only). Please contact school on 631246 if you would like to arrange tickets. The prices are £3.00 for an individual ticket, and £10.00 for a family ticket. We would also be grateful for any sponsors for the event.
