School awarded for out-of-hours work

Woodland Community Primary School in Heywood, has won a Learning Exchange Award, which recognises outstanding practice in extended services provision.
The school won the award for an outstanding out-of-hours programme that has had a clear impact on key outcomes such as behaviour and attendance.
Woodland Community Primary, which has been an extended school for over three years, has around 30 after school clubs each week in addition to weekend and holiday activities.
The feedback from children, parents/carers and staff shows that they all enjoy learning and achieving and it has had a positive impact on their self esteem and confidence.
Councillor Zulfiqar Ali, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families at Rochdale Borough Council said: “It's lovely to have the hard work of our pupils, families, staff and the various partners in the community recognised.”
Tracy Liddell, Partnership Manager at Woodland Community Primary School said: “We are extremely proud to receive this award, which comes just after we’ve been included in a national guide for holiday provision too. “
“Our pupils and their parents and carers are always keen to get involved in the variety of activities we offer and we've seen the positive impact it has had on them. We're continuing to develop our extended activities and are sure we'll keep going from strength to strength.”
