Schools for the future

Date published: 05 March 2010

Matthew Moss High in Rochdale and Cardinal Langley RC High in Middleton, are to be remodelled and upgraded to provide new and learning spaces fit for the 21st century.

Andy Raymer, Headteacher at Matthew Moss High School said: “The timing of the remodelling programme could not have been better for us. It fits in perfectly with the development of our Learning Agenda and the work we are doing with the Innovations Unit, Learning Futures and Creative Partnerships.”

Colin Mason, Headteacher at Cardinal Langley RC High School said: “This is such an exciting development for both current and future generations of students at Cardinal Langley. Several months of consultation, design and development work has resulted in a scheme which enhances every learning space in the school. It also creates an environment which enables us to integrate the latest technology in a way which will support high quality teaching, make learning more enjoyable and give parents 24/7 access to everything they would want to know about their child’s progress, achievements and assessments.”

Detailed planning applications have now been submitted.

Both schemes will be delivered by the Council’s new Local Education Partner (LEP), 'Inspiredspaces Rochdale Limited', which was formally established in January 2010. The LEP is responsible for rebuilding and refurbishing the remaining twelve secondary schools in the Borough, together with the provision of ICT services to all secondary schools.
