Police at the heart of Kirkholt community
Date published: 04 March 2010
Residents and community leaders from across Kirkholt joined members of Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing Team for the launch of a new police office in Kirkholt.
The base, at The Strand, means officers will be at the heart of the community where they can tackle the issues that matter most to residents. Police are hoping to run future community meetings and surgeries at the base which will be run on allocated dates and times.
Inspector Dave Lees for Rochdale South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “It is important for police to be as accessible to the public as they can and to be better informed of the needs of the local communities. As a team we feel it is essential to be at the heart of the community where we can be in the right place at the right time and in turn can build better links with the people we are protecting.
“This is a great opportunity for us to deliver a more personalised, efficient and effective service.”
Jane Allen, assistant director of operations for Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, said: “Rochdale Boroughwide Housing works closely with police to make the area safer for everyone. Providing this building in Kirkholt means that we can support police in their efforts to increase presence while giving local tenants and residents more immediate access their services.”
