The Chinese dragon
Over 30 children and 11 adults from the Castleton area celebrated the Chinese Year of the Tiger recently as they took part in Chinese New Year at Castleton Sure Start Children’s Centre.
Families enjoyed arts and crafts including making Chinese dragons and cards, singing and dancing and tasting different Chinese foods including rice, noodles, prawn crackers and lychees.
Everyone joined in the dragon dancing using a huge dragon tail that had been made during previous sessions and was covered in hand and foot prints.
Elaine Partridge, senior early years worker said: "All the feedback by parents from the event was really positive. They all commented on what a good time they had, this was well attended family event with our under 5’s bringing their big brothers and sisters to join in, even the 'lychees' went down well in the fruit platter.”
