Vote now to help local parks
Date published: 03 March 2010
Queen’s Park in Heywood and Hare Hill Park in Littleborough are riding high in the Green Flag “People’s Choice- Site of the Year” Awards. Both parks already hold Green Flag status which was set up in 1996 to recognise and reward the best green spaces in the country.
The Green Flag “People’s Choice- Site of the Year” Awards comprises 10 of the best parks across the North West. At the last count Queen’s Park was holding the top spot with 747 votes while Hare Hill Park is at number 4 with 140 votes.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Irene Davidson, said: “I am absolutely delighted that two of the Borough’s best loved parks are doing so well in the poll.
Rochdale has many Green Flag parks including the two already mentioned and Truffet Park, Broadfield Park, Milnrow Memorial Park, Packer Spout and Saint Chad’s and Rochdale Memorial Gardens.
I would urge all people to get behind the parks and show their support for two of the town’s finest by voting online.”
