£5m target for daffodil appeal
Date published: 03 March 2010
People across the borough are being urged to paint the town yellow to show their support for a vital cancer charity.
Marie Curie Cancer Care fund-raisers have launched their annual Great Daffodil Appeal in a bid to raise £5 million.
Money raised from the appeal will provide more free nursing care for people with a terminal illness in their own home and the charity’s hospices.
Fund-raisers will be collecting in the town centre throughout March and daffodil pins can also be picked up from thousands of local stores, schools and Marie Curie shops across the UK.
Many of the collectors will be accompanied by a local Marie Curie Nurse who will be on hand to explain where money raised from the appeal will go and the services the charity provides.
If you can spare an hour to support the appeal, call your local fund-raiser on 0161-255 2809 or 0752-5392981.
