St. Cuthbert's R.C. Business & Enterprise College
Date published: 02 March 2010
This week’s theme was Lent and The Beatitudes. Our enterprise capability was communication.
Welcome back to our Year 11 students who spent the weekend in Patterdale with their English teachers and poet Mike Garry. The group took part in practical team building outdoor activities as well as language and literature based activities such as writing poetry.
The tribute band "Fake That" played in the Year 7 assembly to launch our chosen lenten charity work for Francis House. The tribute band were performing a charity fundraiser on Saturday but wanted to perform exclusively to St Cuthbert’s Year 7 learners in recognition of the great social enterprise work done over the last few years for Francis House. The concert was thoroughly enjoyed by all and had everyone clapping and singing along: a great way to start the day! (Francis House has been year 7's chosen charity for a number of years and each year we are proud of the amount raised by our pupils. Our main fund raiser is the sponsored silence, every year 7 class takes part in this, sponsor forms will shortly be issued to pupils. Please help us in supporting this event). Form classes will also be organising their own fund raising ideas, which in the past have included cake sales, mini marathons, name the teddy, etc. We look forward to new ideas this year.
Homework club is open at 1.30 each lunchtime in L3 with Mrs Whitmore and Mrs Rushton and Year 7 learners can now enjoy St Cuthbert's daily radio broadcast each lunchtime in the Year 7 area. A reminder that late detentions and smart card detentions are now served after school, this is in line with whole school procedures.
The facilities in our Partnership Learning Centre are available for parents and for any parish groups who wish to produce resources for church or develop their own learning. Please speak to Louise Moore for details (01706 647761).
