Welcome back to school and hope that you all enjoyed the break.

A reminder to the Year 10 and Year 11 students who are taking the Science GCSE Exams on Wednesday 3 March, Thursday 4 March and Friday 5th March please make sure that you arrive on time and have the correct equipment

On the last 3 days before Half Term Year 7, 8 and 9 students competed in their Annual Inter Form Challenge. Pupils spent an entire day competing against other forms from their year group. The pupils competed in a number of sports which created team work and achievement for all. Final results will be announced soon.

Four students recently went to the Houses of Parliament in London to meet Members of Parliament David Drew and Paul Rowen. The students went to discuss issues of Genocide in Darfur Sudan. The meeting went very well and the pupils put their opinions across. Mr Drew explained all current work and future planned negotiations. Pupils will evaluate their meeting and hope to set up a Darfu Action Group

The Record of Achievements will be sent to all Year 8 students on the 8 March and there will be a Parents Evening for Year 8 Students on Wednesday 10 March Students will be requested to make appointments with their subject teachers.

Recently due to the Government targeted initiative to curb the rate of teenage alcohol related incidents Year 7 and 8 pupils watched an Alcohol Awareness Road Show performed by Collinwood Learning centre. The pupils found the play informative and asked various questions.

Springhill High year 8 and 9 pupils recently visited the Rochdale Magistrates Court and they took a tour around the chambers and spoke to an established Magistrate. Pupils who were interested in pursuing a career in the law were very keen to find out how they could follow this career path. The pupils visiting were made up of the Springhill High schools Magistrates Court competition team, they also found out what would be expected of them when they take part in the forthcoming national competition the heat of which is taking place at the Magistrates court on 6 March.
