Update on tyre slashers

Date published: 01 March 2010

Vandals slashed tyres on more than 80 cars in Rochdale.

Between 8pm on Thursday 25 February 2010 and 7.30pm on Friday 26 February numerous cars had their tyres slashed in the Spotland area of Rochdale.

Some of the roads where cars were targeted include: Rooley Street, Emma Street, Edenfield Road, Molyneux Street, Spotland Road, Edmund Street, Peel Street, Martin Lane, Beswick Street, Preston Street, Marlborough Street, Cinnamon Street, Woodstock Street.

Police are appealing to members of the public and businesses in the area to check their CCTV to see if those responsible were captured.

Inspector Lin Houldershaw, from Rochdale North Neighbourhood Team, said: "This was a mindless attack that has inconvenienced a lot of motorists from the area.

"We are doing all we can to catch the mindless vandals responsible - they covered quite some ground to attack all these cars so I'd ask people from businesses, and residents to think back to Thursday and Friday last week, check over CCTV if they have it, and if something is relevant to contact me."

Anyone with information is asked to call Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 9961 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
