Woman missing in Middleton

Date published: 01 March 2010

Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the whereabouts of a woman missing from her home in Middleton.

Rachel Ward, aged 20, was last seen in the early hours of Sunday morning, 28 February 2010.

She had been out on Saturday 27 February 2010 in Manchester city centre at the AXM club, Canal Street with her mum and other friends.

As the group got into a taxi to leave around 4.30am Rachel got out of the car stating that she wanted to stay in Manchester.

Rachel has not been home or made any contact with friends of family since then.

She is described as white, around 5ft 2ins tall and of petite build with long dark wavy hair. Rachel was wearing blue and white short dungarees with a black top underneath and black shoes with ankle warmers, giving the appearance of ankle boots.

Inspector Lin Houldershaw of Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "It is completely out of character for Rachel and there is no apparent reason why she did not go home.

"Her friends and family are obviously very worried about her and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen Rachel since Saturday night.

"We simply need to know that she is safe and well, so I would ask anyone with information to get in touch, or if Rachel is reading or hearing this appeal then please let someone know you are alright."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 872 5050.
