Saint Cuthbert High School
This week’s theme was Sacrifice and Fasting. Our Enterprise capability was Problem Solving.
Welcome back to everyone – we hope you had a restful half term. Thank you to those teachers and students who came into school to take part in extra lessons during the holiday. After school booster sessions are now in place – please check with subject teachers.
The term has begun in the usual busy fashion - we recognised International Mother Language Day by asking learners to complete work sheets to celebrate diversity of language within St Cuthbert’s. Year groups are making decisions about local charities to benefit from Lenten fundraising and rehearsals are under way for the Rochdale Music Festival.
"You have to be in to win" - Congratulations to form 7.9 who have a weekly attendance figure of 98.2%. Last week’s Attendance Challenge winner was Chloe Barrett, form 7.9. Well done Chloe!
During Lent, Year 7 will once again be raising money for Francis House. Mrs Garvey and form 7.4 presented this week’s assembly with information about our big charity event "The Big Hush": all proceeds from this event will go towards Francis House. Two year 9 learners visited the Yr 7 assembly with news about Drama Club. This will take place each Wednesday lunchtime and year 7 pupils are welcome to attend. Please take a packed lunch along with you. If you have a school dinner, you are able to collect a packed lunch at break time from the dining room. Year 7 Homework club is open everyday in L3 with Mrs Whitmore and Mrs Rushton.
The facilities in our Partnership Learning Centre are available for parents and for any Parish Groups who wish to produce resources for church or develop their own learning. Please speak to Louise Moore for details 01706 647761.
