New bus operator on pennines route

Date published: 19 February 2010

There is a new bus operator on service 528, Rochdale - Ripponden - Halifax, a route with a long history going back to 1926. This is now operated by Huddersfield Bus Company, part of Centrebus Holdings, which is jointly owned by Centrebus and Arriva.

Centrebus itself operates in the East Midlands, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and it's evidently a fast-growing operator. Their subsidiary, Bowers of Chapel-en-le-Frith, runs to Marple,

Centrebus Holdings is a partnership between Arriva (40%) and Centrebus, created in 2008 to purchase K-Line Travel of Honley and Stagecoach's former Yorkshire Traction operations in Huddersfield, which operate as Huddersfield Bus Company.
