Abandoned car - police appeal
Date published: 16 February 2010
Police are appealing for information about a car used in a pub burglary in Glossop, later found abandoned in Rochdale.
At about 6am on Saturday 13 February, a burglar broke into the Surrey Arms Inn, in Victoria Street, stealing cash from the till before he was disturbed by the landlord, who called the police.
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and saw the burglar get into a black 2008 registration Ford Focus. In a bid to stop the man driving off, officers struck the car windscreen and driver's window, causing them to break.
The man drove off toward Hayfield and Greater Manchester Police found the vehicle abandoned in Rochdale on 15 February. It had been stolen from a house in Bolton overnight between 12 and 13 February.
The burglar is described as white, about 6ft tall and in his late 20s. He is stocky and wore dark clothing, a dark coat and a beanie hat.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the burglary, or anyone who saw the car being abandoned, to call detectives on 0345 123 3333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
