Residents air views on difficulties faced accessing council services

Date published: 16 February 2010

Over a hundred local residents aired their views about difficulties they face in accessing council services to a panel of senior council officers and decision makers  at the fourth annual Equalities Listening Event.

The event, hosted by Rochdale Borough Council and held at the Middleton Arena, seeks to gauge residents’ views on the accessibility and equality of council services.

Cabinet member for townships and corporate management, Councillor Liz Thirsk said: “The feedback will be useful. It was very interesting to listen to the variety of views that were expressed and wonderful to hear the passion people are bringing to this debate. We were all listening with interest, and we really do want to ensure that the views of people are taken into account. I was pleased that so many residents made an effort to come along to share their views. We will be using their valuable comments and feeding them into our future service plans.”
