Anger at loss of green area

The green area at the corner of Railway Street and Huddersfield Road, Newhey "razed to the ground" by the Council
Residents of Newhey are angry that a small but "pretty and welcome" green area at the corner of Railway Street and Huddersfield Road, Newhey, has been "razed to the ground".
John Chapman, who lives nearby, said: "As an immediate neighbour of this green area I find it disgraceful that this has been done with no regard for the local residents and without any form of consultation. I can think of no good reason why this has been done.
It is understood ward Councillor Irene Davidson claims no knowledge of the deed but has promised to look into the matter. Councillor Keith Swift, Mayor and Newhey resident, has not, to date, replied to residents concerns.
