New PCT Health Show broadcasts on community radio

Drivetime listeners can tune into a new health show where current health topics are debated and discussed with Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust Health Professionals.
Crescent Community Radio 97.0FM broadcasts exclusively for residents in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale 24 hours a day.
The PCT has signed up to host its very own Health Show where health professionals can deliver important health messages direct to the community over the radio waves.
Senior Speech and Language Therapy Assistant turned part time radio DJ, Zahida Warriach will be presenting the drivetime slot between 3 – 6pm every Tuesday.
The first of the PCT’s weekly ‘Health Shows’ will go live on Tuesday 31 October2006 in which Zahida will be meeting with Public Health Director, Sheila Will and Andrea Dutton, Flu Co-ordinator to discuss the local ‘FLU JAB’ immunisation campaign and other priorities high on the public health agenda in Rochdale Borough.
In the following weeks leading up to Christmas listeners can catch discussions on healthy eating and physical activity, oral health, diabetes and speech and language therapy to name just a few. Listeners will be able to text in their questions and comments to our local health experts.
Sheila Will, Director of Public Health for the Borough of Rochdale believes; “Crescent Community Radio has given the PCT a great opportunity to ensure our important health messages and campaigns are communicated direct to the local community. The PCT are always looking for new ways to promote good health and advertise some of the innovative work that is ongoing across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.
“Crescent Community Radio allows the local community access to vital guidance and advice led by specialist healthcare professionals on healthy lifestyles and a wide variety of health related topics.
“We hope that people across the borough tune in and listen.”
