Drugs worth £500k seized
Half-a-million pounds worth of drugs have been seized by officers in Rochdale.
The huge recovery was made by officers from the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team from a house on Carfax Fold in Norden .
A search warrant was executed and five kilos of heroin and crack cocaine, with a street value of around £500,000, was found.
Inspector Lin Houldershaw said: "This is an absolutely fantastic result, both for Greater Manchester Police but more important for our communities as it means there will be less drugs available to our local criminals.
"This is massive seizure of drugs that could have caused untold damage on our streets. Drug addiction often leads to other crimes such as burglary and robbery, committed by those in need of money to feed their addiction, and causes real misery for innocent members of our communities.
"That is why it is so pleasing to have seized such a large amount. This is the result of a lot of hard work by officers and they should be applauded for their efforts.
"I also want to stress that we will act on information from local people if they suspect any sort of criminality in their area, and with the public's help we will continue to make these sorts of seizures. It is so vital that anyone has suspicions about empty properties or comings and goings at a particular house that they speak to us, in confidence through Crimestoppers if needed, so we can take positive action and take more drugs off the streets."
Anyone with information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
