Key Stage 4 pupils got to make their very own soap in a shape, colour and scent of their choice. Innovative Enterprise came into school to show us and let us make our own soap.
The students made their own soap from scratch and were able to see the results and take it home. The workshop allowed the students to learn through enjoyment as they were even created their own packaging. Students who don’t usually have the opportunity to work with each other were given the chance to team build and given an invaluable experience to fully participate in a fun and educational activity which was accessible to all students dissolving barriers to learning enabling all pupils to be equally valued within their team.
Bringing Science to Life. The workshop was created so that the students could learn by “accident”. Innovative Enterprise say :-”By using role-play games, multimedia input, examples from the real world and challenging activities, students will not passively be 'talked at' - an Innovative Enterprise event turns students into participants.”
This was Very true. The students gained a very hands on experience and within minutes of the workshop starting, they were all involved in a morning of real good clean fun.
Our Congratulations go to Stephen B who has just gained a Purple belt at Karate.
Key stage 3 students have been learning their own addresses, cooking buns and biscuits to raise money and participating in a pancake race.
Students of the week: Jordan D, Brandon S and Nathan Ellis. Congratulations.
Redwood is closed for half term Friday 12 February and reopens Monday 22 February – have a good holiday!
