FEBRUARY ECO NEWS
Clothes Recycling
A big thank you to everyone who brought clothes to school to be recycled. We collected 661kg which will give us £200. We will use the money for our Eco Projects in school. We plan to have raised beds built in our vegetable garden.
The clothes and shoes will now be reused in countries in Eastern Europe and they will be greatly appreciated.
We will have various collections throughout the year. Our next collection will be in the summer term.
Mobile Phones
With this newsletter you will have received a leaflet regarding recycling mobile phones. For every 200 phones collected school receives £300 and you can choose a prize for recycling your phone. If you need another leaflet please ask at the office. You can also visit www.fones4school.co.uk for further details regarding prizes available.
We need to collect 50 phones before Fones4School will collect them. So far we have about 20, please have a good look at home to see if you have any you could send into school.
Just put the phones in a carrier bag along with a completed form which is on the leaflet provided.
Thank you for your support!
The Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2010 18 January – 1 February
Thank you for collecting yoghurt pots and milk cartons for our bird watch.
Year 1 and Year 4 had a fantastic time taking part in The Big Schools’ Birdwatch this year. They made recycled birdfeeders and bird cake for the birds to eat.
The bird watch took place over two afternoons and the children spotted house sparrows, blackbirds, black-headed gulls, robins, starlings, chaffinches, magpies and long-tailed tits.
