Deeplish Primary School.
The Children’s council had another enjoyable and productive meeting on Tuesday when their project “What’s In The Box” was discussed. The children are going to do a survey of packed lunches and feed back to parents and school. Jawairya, Danyal and Osama are going to design the survey sheet. Hamzah and Sidrah told the school about it during Friday’s singing assembly.
Our year 5 children took part in the after school sports event at St John’s Primary School, Rochdale. The children enjoyed themselves playing a range of team games and are looking forward to next week.
What a lovely day Mrs Isherwood’s class had on Wednesday when children from Holy Rosary Catholic School, Liverpool came to visit as part of our Community Cohesion project. The children had a great time playing together and taking part in activities such as cookery and drama. The day was made even more special when all the children were shown around Neeli Mosque. Thank you to all the helpers at Neeli Mosque – everybody learnt a lot. Deeplish children had already been to visit Holy Rosary School and were made to feel just as welcome as we hope the children from Liverpool felt. Mrs Vickers’ class will be visited by Mrs Mitchell’s class from the school next week.
Year 6 children had a lovely, relaxing time on Wednesday morning when they experienced a performance of Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, The Pastoral Suite. The performance was by Manchester Camerata and it took place in the beautiful Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Over 2000 children from schools across the Manchester area were there and we were right up in the top rows! Luckily no one was frightened of heights!
Music making was the main theme of this week’s visit to Rochdale Football Club’s Study Centre. The 15 year 5’s used the ICT facilities to compose their own music and are eagerly waiting for their CD’s to be made. Next week they will be planning and making a television show!
Our after school Cheerleading sessions are looking very energetic and it is lovely to see such happy, smiling faces. The teamwork is super. Well done everyone!
Attendance champions this week are Mrs Afzal’s and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes. Early Bird Awards went to Mrs Afzal’s, Mrs Vickers’ and Mrs Campbell-Starling’s classes where not a single person in any of these classes was late for school this week. Keep it up! 100% weekly attendance winners were Mohsin and Umar - congratulations.
