Educators get top marks at the Lowry

Date published: 11 December 2006

Four of Rochdale Council's early years providers and schools, named as outstanding by the Government, were invited to celebrate their achievement at the The Lowry in Salford on Friday 8 December.

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector (HMCI) recently published a list of providers across the country judged as 'outstanding' in their Ofsted inspections. Now three schools, one nursery unit and five childminders in the Borough have been asked to attend the celebration at The Lowry organised by Ofsted to mark this achievement.

Sue Brown, Head of the Schools Service said: "I am delighted that the excellent Inspections of our early years providers and schools are being recognised and celebrated by Ofsted. It is a reflection of the quality of the borough's services. The hard work and dedication of the staff, childminders, children and families is an inspiration to all."

Commenting on the event, Councillor Irene Davidson, Rochdale Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families said: "It is brilliant that so many of our providers will be applauded as outstanding at The Lowry. They should be extremely proud of the work they do giving local children an excellent start to their education."

The Early Years providers and schools attending the Ofsted event to mark their outstanding inspections are:

  • Derby Street Nursery Unit in Heywood
  • Sunny Brow Nursery School in Middleton
  • Whittaker Moss Primary School in Rochdale
  • High Birch Special School in Rochdale
