Pending road closure - Albert Royds Street
Date published: 29 January 2010

Clover Hall Bridge/Albert Royds Street
Clover Hall Bridge carries Albert Royds Street (A664) over the Rochdale to Leeds railway and was built in 1933. The A664 is one of Rochdale’s main roads and is a key link to the motorway.
The bridge is in a poor state of repair and if it is left in its current condition it will not be able to support 40 tonne vehicles using it, and it may be a danger to the railway track beneath. The only practical solution is to replace the existing bridge with a stronger, better designed bridge. The new bridge will also be wider than the existing bridge, allowing wider footpaths for pedestrians.
As Albert Royds Street is a busy route, some disruption is unavoidable whilst the work takes place. However, the work has been planned to minimise the disruption on the road and railway, and ensure the safety of the public throughout.
The Impact Partnership, who manage highways in the borough on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council, has promised road closures will be kept to a minimum and all dates and times will be publicised.
